Have you been to your dermatologist today?!
Several weeks ago, I had a freckle become raised on my left temple. I knew that was one of the characteristics to watch out for when thinking about skin irregularities/cancers, so I made an appointment. By the time I had my visit last week, it had flattened out again, but the doctor told me that if it happened again, to call right away, as this is common for pre-cancerous skin cancers. She continued to do a full body check - all of about 10 minutes. My brother and I are sort-of moley (his are larger than mine), and she came across one she didn't like. I had it removed last week and, as it turns out, the cells were asymetric. They said they removed all of it in the procedure (which landed me three stitches and a scar) and I didn't need any treatment for the area, but said I need to be very careful and always wear sunscreen. Asymetric cells can eventually become cancerous, so it was a good thing I got checked out.
SO - if you haven't already done it this year, make an appointment with a dermatologist and get your bod checked out - it only takes a few minutes! And do this once a year - it could save your life! We all take the sun for granted - I know I have - but I'm willing to sacrifice my burn/tan for safer sun - with sunscreen!
And just an FYI, the dermatologist said to make sure and wear moisturizer with sunscreen - there isn't enough in foundation/make-up to make a difference (didn't know that).
If you have a sunscreen or moisturizer that you use and recommend, share with us all! I've been wearing Origins moisturizer, but found out the kind I've been wearing does NOT have sunscreen! I see they have a moisturizer that does, so I'm picking it up today. I believe Clinique has mositurizer and makeup with sunscreen.
So go out and enjoy the sun WHILE protecting your skin!
