This morning I headed over to DMV and SS office to officially change my name. I'm now Charlotte Philen Dickerson! It didn't dawn on me as to how monumental this was until I was walking out of DMV and again at the SS office... I walked up to the DMV counter, filled out the paperwork, took a new picture (can't wait to see how bad it is) and signed the form with my new signature, which oddly enough I don't think I had practiced before (at least not in a long time!). I signed it like it was no big deal, but then walking out I thought "Now wait a second, that was pretty huge. They should have a special committee to throw confetti or pop open champagne or something before they let you just walk out of there." I get my new license and SS card in the mail in a few weeks. Now the fun part - changing all the other stuff - at work, banks, credit cards....ugh! What a small price to pay to carry the new name, eh?!
It's very exciting though... to officially be a Dickerson. I'm so proud! Although I couldn't carry my real middle name on the license or SS card, I will still sign with the "L" initial. I was named after my grandmother, Charlotte Lee Kyle, and want to keep it, so maybe I'll sign Charlotte Lee Philen Dickerson or Charlotte L. Philen Dickerson. Decisions, decisions!
Speaking of family names, Jason and I have picked a boy and girl name (at least for now). We, as you know, find out the gender tomorrow (and we are super excited!). We do reserve the right of course to change our minds, even up until after the baby is born, but for now....
Drum roll please....
If it's a Boy we like Cole Lewis and if it's a Girl we like Emma Kyle
Cole because I heard this name a few years ago and love it (and Cole Younger was one of the badest cowboys back in the day so Jason likes it) and Lewis is after Jason's father, Lewis Edward Dickerson. I just like Emma for a girl's name (kinda Southern and goes well with...) Kyle is my Mother's maiden name (as stated above) and the name she still goes by today with many of her high school and college friends.
I pray for a healthy, healthy, healthy baby tomorrow most importantly. Gender doesn't really matter to me - lots of folks think boy, but a few feel very strongly that it's a little girl (and future MC Angel!).
Last week I felt (I think) lots of movement, thrashing around, somersault like, which has become more fluid this week (I've read that this is normal). I usually feel movement on my left side and low (which could mean boy), but I believe the heartbeat has been high at previous visits (supposedly girly). This week's movement is a little more centrally located and I feel the occasional something or other on my right side. A couple people are betting on twins - which would be another level of excitement/fear/excitement/fear!!!
Stay tuned!

Do you know I am still not officially a Fitts. I think I am going to do that this year as a 10 year anniversary gift. Maybe I was making sure it would last. Haha! Just kidding!
