Sadly, one of our hens passed away yesterday. If you read my previous entry, she was the sick one that I talked about, named "Snowball". I called her "Big Mama" because she was a big 'un. She must have weighed 20lbs. I can only hope that she had a nice visit with us and enjoyed her home in her last weeks.
Some folks have joking asked if we had chicken for dinner last night. No, and that's just sick! These are our pets and now members of our family. While I knew her passing was eminent, she was a part of the "coop troop" and one of our first of many hens to come. I'm sure the other chickens will miss her, too.
So rest in peace Big Mama, and may you eat many worms in chicken heaven.
