Weekend

This weekend flew by as usual. Thankfully, I have a short work week and only work Monday through Wednesday. I decided to take a couple of days off before I start the new jobby job next Monday. I'll need some time to mentally prepare.

Friday night B had two friends over and we went to see StepBrothers. Funny, but if you haven't seen it, wait for the DVD. It got kinda long and random at the end, like they were struggling with how to end the thing. It amazes me, some of the brilliant films that come out, and yet others just can't seem to come together. And this one is VERY racey, vulgar...beware. I was embarassed, sitting next to these gals (I got the okay from the parents before agreeing to take them to this R rated flick). We saw Journey to the Center of the Earth Friday a week ago and it was pretty good. The 3D affects, although an extra $2.50, are worth it. I jumped out of my seat at least twice! After the movie, we grabbed some grub at Taco Bell (remind me never to eat there again) and went swimming in Jason's parents' pool (we live just beyond his parents' house). Saturday the rest of the house slept in while I took a truckload to recycling - and I mean a truckload. Yesterday B and I went shopping again (made a quick trip on Saturday, too) and ran lots of errands.

We had some excitement when we got home - as we pulled down the driveway and looked to our left across the pond, a small bear had tipped over the metal can that holds fish food and was grubbing away! I hit the brakes and told B to call her dad as we sat there with our jaws dropped open. He and D were inside, watching tv and didn't have a clue (that corner of the pond can't be seen from the front of the house because of a large Willow). While B tried to call her Dad, the bear got up and casually took a few steps toward the woods, turned around and looked at us in the car, took a few more steps (I'm fubbling with a disposable camera, only to find there are no more shots available!) and eventually just disappeared in the woods. He (he/she...who knows) certainly didn't seemed too alarmed by us, but wasn't brave enough to stick around either. By the time the boys came out he was, of course, gone. Jason hooked up a "stealth cam" (a camoflouged motion censored camera) so we'll see if we got any shots last night!

Brad and Jas leave for Africa tomorrow morning. Please keep them in your thoughts for a safe flight.

Later gator (I mean BEAR!),
Char
